The Indiana Chapter of HIMSS (IN HIMSS) is seeking dedicated people to serve on the Board of Directors who are passionate about improving the healthcare of all who live in, work in, and visit Indiana, through information and technology. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply to serve as one of the members of the Board of Directors to guide the development of the Chapter, and should be able to commit a minimum of 12 hours of service per month (large events and other milestones may temporarily require more time of those involved).

Serving on the Board
IN HIMSS was incorporated, along with all other chapters, in 2005, but was one of 11 active affiliated chapters as of April 25, 1976, according to the HIMSS history document (http://www.himss.org/sites/himssorg/files/HIMSSorg/Content/files/HistoryHIMSS_January2013.pdf).

Board Size and Structure
IN HIMSS is governed by a board of 21 directors whose members serve up to two three-year terms.
Duties of the Board
The Board as a whole is responsible for the following duties that are essential to the success of the Chapter:
Determine the Chapter’s Mission, Purposes, Values, and Operating Norms
Ensure Effective Organizational Planning
Ensure Adequate Resources
Manage Resources Effectively
Determine, Monitor, and Strengthen the Chapter's Programs
Promote the Chapter’s Public Standing
Ensure Legal and Ethical Integrity and Maintain Accountability
Recruit and Orient New Board Members and Assess Board Performance
Board Selection Process
Board members will be chosen through an open process that allows any interested individual who has been an IN HIMSS member and a member of HIMSS National for at least one year to apply. Applications will be reviewed by a 5-person committee that will recommend a slate of candidates for appointment to the Board. The review will be conducted utilizing the Application Review Guidelines and Rating Rubric found at the bottom of this page and will be determined at the sole discretion of the committee.
