HIMSS Indiana Chapter Advocacy
We're excited to welcome you to our new HIMSS Indiana Chapter Advocacy page.
Here, you can check out a high level overview of chapter advocacy initiatives and priorities, as well as current HIMSS Global calls to action.
Coming soon, we will be bringing a series of articles introducing state government and the legislative process, including how to use the Indiana General Assembly website, read and understand bills, contact a legislator, and more. Please follow us on social media (insert links to Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) to catch those updates.
In the interim, we hope you're gearing up for Global Health Equity Week #HealthEquity this October 25-29, 2021. For those who aren't familiar, Global Health Equity Week (GHEW) replaced National Health IT Week beginning in 2020. The goal is to celebrate "the power of information and technology to improve access to healthcare for all communities." Head over to the weblink to learn more.
Last but not least, if you have any questions or concerns or topics about which you're passionate, we'd love to hear from you!

This page is your local stop to keep track of Chapter Advocacy initiatives and priorities. We advocate for legislation (usually bipartisan) that supports the following:
- Connected Health - Enabling greater access to care through telehealth, remote patient monitoring, and broadband technologies.
- Cybersecurity - Appropriate physical and information security measures to protect patients.
- Privacy - Appropriate data privacy measures to protect patients.
- Interoperability - Ensuring information is shared and standardized across information systems that enable public health, care coordination, and improved health outcomes.
